- The thing that can be off, letting you sleep in, is「しごと（仕事）」(work). We say「仕事が休み」(work is off) and「仕事に行く」(to go to work).「くすり」(medicine),「でんき」(electricity), and「かさ」(umbrella) are not things that can be off. Example:「仕事は9時からです」(Work starts at 9).
