JLPT N2Four-character idioms

Meaning
Explanation
"自業自得" is a Buddhist term expressing that one receives the consequences of one's own deeds (業). It is mostly used about bad outcomes, in the sense of "it's my own fault". c1 "to gain profit in business" is an error of taking "業" as work; the key point is the causal meaning of receiving the consequences of one's deeds.
