JLPT N2Four-character idioms
- Meaning
- Explanation
- 「二束三文」, from the meaning that even bundling two bunches together amounts to only three mon (an extremely tiny sum), expresses that even if the quantity is large the price is very cheap, that the value is low. It is used when describing a bargain sale or dumping. Unlike c2's 「賢い取引」 (a clever deal), it does not mean gaining a profit; the key point is the cheapness / low value.
