JLPT N2Four-character idioms

Meaning
Explanation
「七転八起」, from the sense of getting back up no matter how many times one falls, expresses not being discouraged by failure but standing up and continuing to make an effort. It is also said as 「七転び八起き」 and is used in scenes of encouragement. c4's 「繰り返し転んで苦しむ」 (repeatedly falling and suffering) is the meaning of 「七転八倒」 which expresses agony, and is a confusion with a different word.
